They had the mules pulling a machine that dug up the ground and loosened the potatoes.
We just went along picking them up and putting them in our bag, and put some in the basket for the farm too.
It was hard work, so I took a break at the end to think of all the french fries and mashed potatoes (Daddy's favorite) we were going to make.
